I got the old girl to the body shop and got to really look her over, I found all kinds of cool stuff in the trunk from 1955.One thing I didn't find that was nice is rust! I plan on steam cleaning the motor and trying to get her to turn over tomorrow. The car only has 52000 miles on it and I was told was a good runner, we'll see. If she is I will pull the motor and trans and re-gasket and paint them up and then start on the suspension. My goal this year is to get the body off the frame and go through and paint the motor and frame. I'm also going to re-do the brake lines and lower the car about 3 inch's.
So I've been looking for something to cruise the streets in with my family, this is something I did as a kid with my Dad and it was one of my fondest memories as a kid. So, let me digress. A few months ago I started moon lighting at a buddy's body shop at night to help him when things get busy. It works out great for me because I get to learn and also use the shop when things are slow. So anyways, I'm at the shop one night getting the carpet put in the 65 and somebody comes in and we start BS'ing and I tell him I'm looking for a 55 Buick 4dr for the family cruiser. He tells me that he know where one is and its some guy that has come into the shop before so the next day I go to his house and this is what I find.......
It was bought by this guys parents in 1955 right off the show room floor. They bought it and took it on a long trip around the North West. After the trip it came to Mountain Home, where I live, and was given to there son. He didn't drive it to much and it just sat, tell I pulled up!
I’ve been putting allot of time in on the truck lately and the bike has just been sitting, I usually ride it once a week at least in the winter but this year it’s been neglected. The weather seems to be getting a little better and I'm starting to get that hair so I need to get the tank and fender off and painted, also need to get the sissy bar chromed...... I’ve got allot of work ahead of me.
Last night I went and hung out with friends at The Plank to watch Matt and his band RAID, I'm not a big punk rock guy but It was a good time and they were good. It was like stepping back in time, lots of crazy hair and studded vests. If your down with the HARD CORE PUNK, not the soft stuff click on here for there site and upcoming shows.
I snuck in this morning when the light was good and snapped some pics of a junk yard in Glenn's Ferry. I stayed low and moved fast as to not get shot! I don't know who the owners of the place are but there was no one around so I just helped my self! More pics to come.
I forgot my camera so I must first say that I stole the pics! The first two I stole from my buddy Matt who owns Wrecked Metals. The last I stole form my buddy Rob, I edited his hope he doesn't mind. I drove the truck out with the bike in the back as a plan "B" if the truck died, but the truck drove great and it was a good time. It was a good way to kick off the new year.
